In 2009, Rice Memorial Hospital saw 15,195 patients. 97.3% of those patients were treated at Rice Hospital. Only 427 patients required transfer to another facility for a higher level of specialized care, such as brain trauma or cardiac arrest.

Willmar Ambulance paramedics are trained to take Advanced Life Support (ALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Critical Care transports. Ambulance crews are enroute within 90 seconds of being paged for a transfer. Willmar Ambulance takes patient transfers from Rice Hospital, local clinics, and Level 4 Trauma hospitals within the region to Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma hospitals in Minnesota. Rice is a Level 3 Trauma hospital.
